All of life, reality, existence itself, is a single concentration spell the First Three gods cast at the dawn of time. When the mortal wizards rose up against their tyranny and killed them, the spell broke. The Unraveling began. It is not war. It is not plague. It has been a slow, creeping darkness for millennia. The end of being, a spreading nothing that cannot be Wished or dispelled because it is the absence of spell.

Our story takes place in the last city, Wuh-Zhei, a vertical masterpiece, six plates stacked and floating. Built by those once rebellious wizards and now entrenched as a society. Its streets are stitched with failing magics. Its skies are fractured by unraveling encroachment. And yet, most of the city is either too busy to care or trusts the Senate will figure it out. On Plate Three, they host community barbecues and slice apple pie. On Plate Five, the Unraveling is a boogeyman the Senate uses to control the masses. And on Plate Six, people are too busy struggling to survive to care what lies beyond their district. But in the towers above Plates One and Two, the wizard factions scheme.
There are five factions in the Senate. The Paragons prepare spell weapons. The Optimists chart a path to a new plane. The Transneuroclasts research ways to transcend life itself. The Gilded Gaze celebrates what we once had. Each believes their method might hold the world together. But one wizard chose a different path. The missing Chronomancer senator, Dalton Marius Pennison the 100th, acted alone. He consulted the greatest living diviner of the Gilded Gaze and asked a single question: Who will not give up?
The Orcacle gave him five names. Yours was one of them.
So Dalton Marius found you and gave you a token. An invitation. To his funeral.
Today, the sun rises over the Azure District on Plate Three. Somewhere above, the towers write their last plans. Somewhere below, the streets sleep through the end. And for you, the Chronomancer’s Gambit begins.

Character creation requirements:
1. You may not be the smartest or the brightest or the bravest in the city of Wizards. But the Orcacle gave the Chronomancer your name because you are the most tenacious. You have principles that are immune to every damage type. You will never give up and never sell out. No matter how long it takes, no matter how many tries.
2. Today, the day of the campaign, you wake up on Plate Three. You likely don’t live there. Maybe you are staying in a hotel in Azure district. Maybe you slept in the engineering doc where you were working. Maybe you were visiting relatives or just stayed up late in Rhodonite partying. But whatever the reason, when the Chronomancer bound his gambit on the morning of his Funeral, you were on Plate Three.
