Defiant Aasimar

The first three became gods when they said no to the fourth. And from that defiance, angels were born.

  • Creature Type: Humanoid
  • Size: Medium (about 4 to 7 feet tall) or Small (about 2 to 4 feet tall), chosen when you select this species
  • Speed: 30 feet
  • Fire Resistance: You have resistance to Fire damage.
  • Darkvision: You have Darkvision with a range of 60 feet.
  • Healing Hands: As a magic action, you touch a creature and roll a number of d4s equal to your proficiency bonus. The creature regains hit points equal to the total rolled. Once you use this trait, you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest.
  • Light Bearer: You know the Light cantrip. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this spell.
  • Celestial Revelation: When you reach character level 3, you can transform as a Bonus Action. The transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it (no action required). Once you transform, you can’t do so again until you finish a Long Rest. Once on each of your turns during the transformation, you can deal extra damage to one target when you hit it with an attack or a spell. This extra damage equals your Proficiency Bonus, and its type is fire.
  • Moment of Refusal: When you transform, your body and wings ignite. You hover 5 feet above the ground, wreathed in flame. As you move, you leave behind a burning trail through the spaces you walk. Until the start of your next turn, any creature that enters one of these spaces for the first time on a turn takes 1d6 fire damage.
  • Cleansing Flame: Once per round during your moment of refusal, when a creature or object takes fire damage from you or from a spell or effect you created, you may force it to succeed on a saving throw against your spell save DC or have one spell currently affecting it end (starting with the lowest-level spell).

Catkin

“The laws of magic are more like… suggestions.” – Leaps Without Landing

  • Creature Type: Humanoid
  • Size: Medium (about 4 to 7 feet tall) or Small (about 3 to 4 feet tall), chosen when you select this species
  • Speed: 30 feet
  • Darkvision: You have Darkvision with a range of 60 feet. You can see in dim light as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors only as shades of gray.
  • Righting Reflex: You have resistance to damage from falling. When you take damage from a fall, you do not fall prone as a result of the fall.
  • Reactive Grace: The first time on a turn that a creature who moved within 5 feet of you targets you with an attack, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on that attack. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
  • Catkin Claws: Your unarmed strikes deal 1d4 slashing damage. When you make attacks with your claws, you may use your Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence modifier for attack and damage rolls. Choose which when you create this character.
  • Curiosity for the Banned: You know the Sever cantrip. At 3rd level, you know and can cast Fulfill Spell once per long rest. At 5th level, you know and can cast Rune of Conditional Termination once per long rest. You can cast each of these spells once without expending a spell slot, and you may also cast them using spell slots if you have any. These spells are considered banned in many regions. When you cast one of them, you leave behind visible void trails—arcane signatures that someone with the right knowledge can recognize. Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells (choose when you select this lineage).

Leyline Dwarf

““Stone fights back. Time just waits for you to slip. One crack, and the whole age collapses.” —Dalton Marius the 31st

  • Creature Type: Humanoid
  • Size: Medium (about 4 to 5 feet tall)
  • Speed: 30 feet
  • Darkvision: You have Darkvision with a range of 120 feet.
  • Dwarven Toughness: Your hit point maximum increases by 1, and it increases by 1 again whenever you gain a level.
  • Chrono Resilience: You have resistance to Force damage. You also have advantage on saving throws to avoid being forcibly moved or teleported.
  • Timecunning: As a bonus action, you gain Chronosense for 10 minutes. To activate and maintain this effect, you must be touching a magical object or feature that has remained stationary. While active, you see faint, luminous trails showing the movement of visible creatures within your line of sight, relative to the anchor. The length of the trails corresponds to how long the anchor has remained unmoved. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Monarch Elf

“You don’t need altitude to see the future, but it certainly helps. You’d understand… if you could fly.” —Gloria Bhutané, the Third Oracle

  • Creature Type: Humanoid
  • Size: Medium (about 5 to 6 feet tall)
  • Speed: 30 feet
  • Darkvision: You have Darkvision with a range of 60 feet.
  • Fey Ancestry: You have advantage on saving throws to avoid or end the Charmed condition.
  • Keen Senses: You have proficiency in the Insight, Perception, or Survival skill.
  • Trance: You do not need to sleep, and magic cannot put you to sleep. You can finish a long rest in 4 hours if you spend those hours in a trancelike meditation, during which you remain conscious.
  • Monarch Wings: You have wings. Gorgeous, visible butterfly wings in striking patterns and colors. Though naturally too delicate for sustained flight, your wings respond to your will and grow stronger over time. Starting at 1st level, as a Bonus Action, you can exert control over your wings to take flight. For a total number of rounds equal to your Proficiency Bonus + your character level, you can maintain a flying speed equal to your walking speed and can hover. You can start end this flight at any time, and split the duration across multiple uses. You regain all rounds upon finishing a long rest.
  • Innate Spells: You know the True Strike cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you learn the Identify spell. When you reach 5th level, you learn the Detect Thoughts spell. You always have these spells prepared, and you can cast each of them once without expending a spell slot. You regain the ability to cast them this way when you finish a long rest. You can also cast them using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level. When you cast Identify, your wings may serve in place of the spell’s material component. Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells (choose when you select this lineage).

Glass Elf

“My glass skin? A result of generational self improvement. Perfection is not a goal. It’s a duty.”– Whin Paine

  • Glass Ritualist: Choose one Transmutation or Enchantment spell you know. For you, this spell has the ritual tag. When casting it as a ritual, you may attempt to cautiously conceal that you are in fact casting by making a Deception or Stealth check, you must still have the proper components. The chosen spell must be of a level no higher than one third your character level, rounded up. You can change your selected spell whenever you gain a level. If you do not know any Transmutation or Enchantment spells, then this feature becomes active at level three when you learn Charm Person through your innate spellcasting.
  • Innate Spells: You know the Magic Stone cantrip. At level 3, you can cast Charm Person. At level 5, you can cast Alter Self. You can cast each of these once per long rest without expending a spell slot, and may also cast them using spell slots if you have any. Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells (choose when you select this lineage).

Nameless Tiefling

Descendants of the god wiped from the world’s memory.

  • Creature Type: Humanoid
  • Size: Medium (about 4 to 7 feet tall) or Small (about 3 to 4 feet tall), chosen when you select this species
  • Speed: 30 feet
  • Darkvision: You have Darkvision with a range of 60 feet.
  • Legacy of Completion: You have resistance to Psychic damage. You know the Minor Complete Spell cantrip. At level 3, you know and can cast Detect Completeness. At level 5, you know and can cast Kill Zone. You can cast each of these once per long rest without expending a spell slot, and may also cast them using spell slots if you have any. Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells (choose when you select this lineage). These spells are part of a banned school of magic. Casting your two free daily completion spells causes your horns to glow black; and being caught casting any may provoke legal or social consequences depending on who witnesses it.
  • Otherworldly Presence: You know the Thaumaturgy cantrip. When you cast it with this trait, it uses the same spellcasting ability you use for your Legacy of Completion.
